Childbirth Education
Due to current concerns regarding COVID-19 we are temporarily only offering private childbirth classes digitally. During this time we are offering a discount to those transferring care to a midwife for birth center or homebirth. Private childbirth classes via Zoom or Google Duo are $100, 1.5 hours, and includes digital files of all of our childbirth materials for you to keep. Childbirth Classes at Nine Short Months
This is a comprehensive childbirth class designed for those desiring an un-medicated vaginal delivery but prepares you for all choices and outcomes, those planned and unexpected. Our class content emphasizes supporting the natural process of labor and effective physical and emotional coping techniques. Classes are offered monthly at Nine Short Months in Southfield, MI. Cost per pregnant person is $150, partners or support people are free and encouraged to attend.
Covered topics include:
stages of labor
anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and birth
coping and comfort techniques for un-medicated labor
partner support techniques
decisions regarding pain management medications, care and newborn procedures
feeding options including chestfeeding/breastfeeding, induced lactation, co-nursing, pumping, bottle feeding, and donor milk
pregnancy and newborn bonding for non-gestational parents
postpartum recovery

LGBTQIA2S+ Childbirth Classes
LGBTQIA2S+ families deserve to learn about birth and parenthood in a safe space that supports their gender identity, sexuality and family dynamic. This class covers all basic childbirth information in addition to information and resources that are unique to the LGBTQIA2S+ parenthood experience. Language used to discuss birth, postpartum, lactation and infant feeding is affirming and inclusive. Classes are held at Nine Short Months in Southfield, MI.
